Enterpreneur, teams, or organizations ( for-profits, research institutions, educational institutions, and startups) are welcome to apply.

Applicants must demonstrate a clear and innovative idea that aligns with the mission and focus areas of the program.

International applicants are welcome to apply, but the project must have a direct impact or be applicable to a global challenge.

Minimum 2 years of experience as a licensed barber, hairstylist, or cosmetologist

Proof of ownership or lease of a salon, suite, booth, or chair

In operation for at least two years as of the application date.
Generating annual revenue between $25,000 and $500,000.

Innovation & Market Need
Offering a unique solution or product that addresses a clear market gap or customer pain point.
Demonstrated potential for scalable impact within its target industry.

Have a comprehensive budget and financial plan

Be willing to participate in ongoing evaluation and reporting requirements

Operate a business located in Texas

Have been in operation for at least 6 months

Employ 10 or fewer staff members

Operate a profit-generating business

Sustainable agriculture

Be a startup or early-stage entrepreneurial team

Be based in Baltimore, Maryland

Be actively developing a healthcare-related technology solution

Demonstrate potential for scalability and impact in healthcare innovation

Organizational Type: Eligible organizations include non-profit entities, for-profit companies, educational institutions, local or state government agencies, and public-private partnerships.

Project Type: Proposed projects must focus on one or more of the following areas:
Transportation infrastructure enhancement.
Logistics system optimization (including software or hardware solutions).
Sustainability and environmental impact reduction in transportation.
Advanced transportation technologies (e.g., autonomous vehicles, AI-driven logistics platforms).
Workforce development and training in the logistics and transportation sectors.

Geographic Scope: Projects must be based in the United States, but they may have national or international impact.

Financial Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate the capacity to match at least 20% of the total project cost through their own funds, or by securing additional financing from other sources.

Reside in Maryland (MD)

Have a viable business idea or newly established microenterprise

Earn $75,000 or less before tax, or hold a healthcare or pension card

Be committed to regular coaching sessions and actively work on your business between meetings

 ⁠Be a registered 501(c)(3) organization.

Align with the AHIC Foundation’s funding priorities.

Be incorporated in United States or licensed or registered to do business in with the United state and must be resident in the State.

Be a currently viable micro-business, small business, or for-profit, social, health, education, arts and cultural organization including independent arts contractors that started business on April 1, 2024 or later and have been operational for at least six months before an application is submitted;

Have between five thousand dollars ($5,000) and one million dollars ($1,000,000) in gross receipts per annum as reflected on their most recent Federal Business Tax Return (line 1a, IRS Form 1120 or 1065; line 1 IRS Form 1040 Schedule C) or be able to demonstrate five thousand dollars ($5,000) in business expenses for businesses that have not yet filed a Federal Business Tax Return;

Be in substantial compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, codes and requirements;

Not owe any federal, state or local taxes, or have an approved repayment, deferral plan, or agreement with appropriate federal, state, and local taxing authorities;

Not qualify for business assistance grant programs under the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 or any other available federal COVID-19 economic recovery or business assistance grant programs, including loans forgiven under the federal Paycheck Protection Program, or are unable to obtain sufficient business assistance from such federal programs.

Operate or own property within eligible Illinois locations

Demonstrate economic benefit, such as increased employment or local business activity

Provide a detailed project plan including timeline, budget, and outcomes

Be in good legal and financial standing

Are based in the Territory and operate as a Territory enterprise

Have been operating for at least 12 months

Maintain an existing commercial waste collection service at a site in the FL

Are fully compliant with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations

Ownership: The applicant must be a founder or co-founder of the business and own at least 50% of the company.

Business Stage: Applicants must be at the idea or early growth stage of business development.

Exclusivity: The AHIG Opportunity Outreach Fund is exclusively for new entrepreneurs and startups. Established businesses or those that have been in operation for more than 3 years are not eligible.
